Guide for descriptions

In the following image, you can find some of the prompts which you could use when you are preparing this part of the speaking exam. Remember:

1- The more you use a structure the easier it will come to your mind. (Repeat, repeat and repeat… it’s not boring, it is clever!)

2- It is a speaking part of the exam so … Why don’t you read it out loud to yourself? your hearing memmory will come to the rescue if you get nervous.

VIDEO 1: ENGLISH-BUILDING SENTENCES

Good morning everyone! Here is the task for today!

1- REMEMBER THE SENTENCE ORDER

WHO-verb-WHAT-WHERE-WHEN ( Quién?-acción-Qué? Dónde? y Cuándo?

For example: Who? The doctor ; verb: writes; What? an article; Where? in her office? When? at the weekend..

My sentece is…… The doctor writes an article in her office at the weekend.

2- WATCH THE VIDEO… toma notas en papel… THINK, si tienes que parar… PAUSE THE VIDEO…

3- WRITE YOUR SENTENCE IN THE COMMENTS.

LET’S GO!

TASK 35

Hello everyone! This is an old video.. I know.. but because it is not so updated, the man speaks slowly and explains things without so much noise as when you watch those cartoon videos that are so hyperactive and keep you so stressed!

I like it because he speaks clearly and this is not an easy topic. It is long.. but you can watch it in bits… if there is anything that you don’t understand please leave a comment!

TASK 34

Good morning!

Hey! this is probably my last video unless you let me know doubts on social or natural science…. Here are some links to help you practice and a little explanation.

TASK 32

Good morning! Here you have a really cool video. I am happy you had the chance to try the magnet that we have in the class and at least you know how a magnetic field feels. I am not giving you a focus question, just give me your hello to let me know you watched it and write in the comments if you have a question. OK?

We will then talk about your doubts on Friday in our videocall!

TASK 28 (19/05)

Good morning everyone! Can I ask you a favour? Don’t just write hello… please let me know if it useful to have me film this type of videos where I present cards and you answer at home and give you the answer turning the card around….

Because I was thinking of just going through some basics with this.. but only if you think it’s useful, because maybe you prefer online activites like the links I shared with you on the first and second conditiona…. just wondering…let me know!

TASK 20 (add to email)

Good morning everyone!

Today you are doing exercise 4 from the activity book pg 113 in the blog. Previously you need to have done ex. 1 and 3 in your activity book.

The idea is that you complete here Sasha’s email with your own ideas… SInce the structure of the email has already been written in Sasha’s email, all you need to do is add information or interaction (remember that even it is an email, not a conversation, you can write questions!)

Remember this is your moment to show your best ENGLISH!!! (and to sign your work..)

TASK 19

Good morning! My suggestion is the following. Do the exercise in your activity book answering each question with a beautiful complete sentence. Then in the comments write a paragraph about tornados with the information of the exercise. By the way this is activity book pg.112 ex 2.

Maite:- SO … What is it that you have to do? answer the questions in the blog?

Class:- NOOOOOOOOO! We answer the questions in the activity!

Maite:- SO…. What is it that you must write in the blog?

YOU:- A beautiful paragraph on tornados with the information from the excercise 2.

TASK 18(ARTS)

Hi everyone! I am leaving you three very short videos on a drama activity called mirror game that prepares you for improvisation. You will need to practice with someone at home (I don’t recommend a cat….)

Watch all of them and leave a comment on your favourite one explaining why! Remember movements are gentle and slow and you could try the face expressions from last week!

TASK 17

Hi there!

Here you have your work!!! This power point wants to show you three basic things..

1- The levels of coordination in our estado de las autonomías in order to make those regulations that make sure you are looked after and guaranteed the Rights in the Constitución 1978.

2- The levels of coordination in our estado de las autonomías in order to make those regulations that set the duties for all citizens that will guarantee the Rights of all os us according to our Constitución.

3- Our Estado shares areas of decisions, levels of organizations, and men and women alike are in charge of different responsibility areas in order to organize our life in this country.

Task 15 (25/04)

Good morning everyone! Congratulations! You made it to the end of the week!

TODAY IS THE DAY WHEN YOU CAN RUB ALADIN’S LAMP AND WISH….actually you have been doing it all these days you have been locked down… try to remember which have been your wishes (of course always bear in mind this is ENGLISH.. and we are learning how to use beautiful sentences in conditional) follow me on this…

EX. During lockdown I wished I coud travel to visit my family in Barcelona. I wished I had more computers at home to work the three of us. I wished I coud visit my friends nearby. I wished I had a big garden to run around. I wished days were longer to relax with my kids after all the work they had and I had.

Now is your turn!

TASK 14

SO… DO YOU FEEL LIKE MAKING A CAREER ON ACTING?

WELL… EVEN IT YOU WOULD NEVER, NOT EVEN IN YOUR WILDEST DREAMS, NEVER WISH TO BECOME AN ACTOR OR AN ACTRESS… IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU UNDERSTAND FACIAL AND BODY LANGUAGE…

WATCH THIS VIDEO, PRACTICE AND WRITE DOWN IN OUR COMMENTS WHICH FACE DID CHANGE THE WAY YOU WERE FEELING… SOMETIMES MAKING FACES CAN CHANGE OUR EMOTIONS…

TASK 13

Good morning! I just wanted to share with you another experiment we carried out at home with my daughter during lockdown.

IT is very easy….

INGREDIENTS: two glasses, vinegar and sodium bicarbonate.

INSTRUCTIONS: –

Pour vinegar in two different glasses (heat one of them )

Pour a coffee spoonful of sodium bicarbonate

YOU JUST CREATED A CHEMICAL REACTION (which means you no longer have the same substances, because matter has changed, a new gas has been released, creating carbon dyoxide (bubbles expanding)… the heat accelerates the process.

GOOD LUCK!

TASK 12 (22/04)

Good morning everyone! Remember a couple of things before you start writing.

1- You must write your names or first letters and group.

2- You will not see published your comment inmediately because I need to approve it and it takes a little while since I have to do it from within wordpress. So be patient and do not write it twice. All comments are published the same day you write them, unless you write just before midnight, of course (I will be sleeping)

3- Show your best English…nice vocab… cool sentences.. well structured paragraphs, variety of verb tenses and of course connectors…

Thank you!

This is the question you should answer today regarding the student book reading you did yesterday.

HOW DO YOU THINK THEIR PARENTS FELT? (be careful… it is tricky .. the question is in the present (how do you think…) but about something that happened in the past (they felt…)

TASK 11

Good morning! Finally I got the four videos uploaded … please as you did yesterday, Write a question if you have any or just say hello…:)

It is four videos… watch them in the correct order and…. YOU should not laugh about my face in the morning (even though if you do I won’t see it…:P)

TASK 10

Good morning everyone!

This is a very interesting video on chemical reactions. The most important thing you need to remember about chemical reactions is that MATTER changes… so there is no coming back to original substance.

One chemical reaction is fermentation… that is carried out by a living organism… and remember they always have three vital functions.. NUTRITION leaves WASTE… have a look at this video… and see what happens when our small yeast eats sugar and releases waste in gas state…..

IF YOU HAVE A DOUBT WRITE IT AS A COMMENT. IF YOU DON’T STILL SAY HELLO (WITH YOUR FIRST LETTERS OF NAME, SURNAMES AND GROUP, just so I can know you are connected and learning)

TASK 6

Hi there everyone!

Here you are to answer excercise 3 from page 73 from the Pupil’s book. This requires you to have read the text in advance.

Make sure you use could, might, have to, and the negative forms!!! Here we go..

DO NOT IMPROVISE! (DON’T WRITE AS YOU ARE THINKING… MAKE A DRAFT, ORGANIZE YOUR IDEAS, PRIORITIZE, BUILD PARAGRAPHS AND CHECK YOUR SPELLING… PLEASE….

What do you think is more important earning a lot of money or being happy in your job?

TASK 4(19/03)

Good morning everyone!

Today you are going to let us know your thoughts about this news. Read through it and do not worry if you don’t understad everything. It’s ok if you just get the general idea.

Remember! you are to show your best English and never, ever try to speak your Spanish thoughts into English words. It doesn’t work! Inspire us with your thinking!

TASK 3 (17/03)

Good morning! and happy St Patrick!.

I have sent you a power point that I hope you will be able to see at some point today. The question for today however doesn’t necessarily have to do with St. Patrick but it does have to do with festivities!!!

Tell us! What is your favourite national festivity? Why? and How do you usually celebrate it! (see this would be such an easy stay in the present simple kind of question… but when you speak personal, remember you can go to the past -last year- to the present perfect- something you have never done- future what you expect to do next year.- so please don’t write a shopping list on the things you usually do even though the question seems to ask just that… (BE SMART!)

TASK 2 (16/03)

Hi there everyone!! How are you doing ? I hope you aren’t missing school yet 😛

THis is today’s question but before writing remember to organize your ideas, structure sentences, choose verb tenses (variety) use connectors and try to surprise me!!!!

So …. Do you have a hobby, an activity that you enjoy a lot? if so.. How long have you been practising it and what would you like to do with it if you had the power to do anything….. (present perfect continuous and second conditiona guys… starting strong!)
