  1. In the first picture I can see to many people on the trailway but I can´t see any women because the woman didn´t have many rights and they didn´t used to work out of home. All man of the picture weared suits, also I see some beautiful houses because in that periode the country had many money and the madrids architecturre increased a lot.
    In my opinion ,the B picture was taken in the civil war because I can see a town destroyed by a howitzer. This town can be Madrid because I know that many buildings were destroyed by the Nationals airforces. After war life was so difficult for the people who thought in a different way.

  2. In picture A I can see many men in the center of Madrid. The men are very well dressed, as if they were to a wedding.
    but in the image I can’t find any woman. I suppose it is because in those times a woman had less rights than a man.

    In picture B I see a house completely destroyed and there is nobody in the streets. I suppose it was times of war and destruction

    1. Hi Lucía,

      These are some good observations!

      Remember: woman= singular, women= plural

      Also when you are describing the house in picture B, I think it would be best to include ‘that is’ because you have used a long adverb and adjective together.

      “In picture B I see a house *that is* completely destroyed…”

      Finally, when you use “it was”, the noun has to be singular.
      “it was *a time* of war and destruction.”

      Apart from that, there are no spelling mistakes and it is organised really well! Good job!

      Next time, try to include more tenses: present perfect, 2nd conditional (how would you feel if you lived in these times?).

  3. In picture A there are a lot of people in the center of Madrid. I think they are busy because I can see all the people running from one place to another. Everyone wears elegante suits. Although they were in a hurry and also had to work a lot, they lived in peace. However in picture B, I can see all the House destroyed. The Life was very difficult during the Civil War. The bombs devasted the city. Thousands of lives were lost due to the Civil War. In that moment, Life was terrible.

    1. Hi Jaime!

      i liked that that you used clear examples and included lots of extra detail. Be careful with capital letters, for example, you don’t need to write ‘Life’ with a capital ‘L’. Also, as you are writing about life in general, you don’t need to put ‘the’. Finally, check your spelling of ‘elegante’.

      Think about this question: how would you feel if you were living in these times?

      In general, excellent work. Well done! 🙂

People are well dressed and look wealthy, they might be on the way to work, to the cinema or to a restaurant to have dinner with friends. In the second photo I see a devastated city after the bombs. People are afraid of going out. There aren’t stores were they can buy food or other things that they need.

It perfectly shows the consequences of any war: devastation, death, sadness…The last things any country should ever live.

The first photo shows a picture of normality in the city of Madrid. But this doesn’t mean that life was normal. However, one was taken during the Second Republic and expresses how was the life; so I can see, because of the photo which was a very pacific stage on Spain. At the contrary, the other photo is the result of a battle of the half of the country against the other half. This situation divided many families. This photo also shows what were the consequences of the war, such us the dead of many people in the war. Finally, with regard to the life, I think that it wasn’t very calm.

      You make some good points but you need to keep things simple.

      First, you need to read over your work to see where you need to put stops (.) and commas (,) so that your work is easier to read.

      When you are describing a verb, you need to change the adjective by adding -ly.

      calm= calmly
      normal=normally

However, the situation of each city was different; In picture A the people are moving around in public transport or by foot while In picture B there’s no one in the streets. This fact must be because of the destruction: the buildings have fallen appart, everything is in ruins and there is dirt everywhere. It seems to have been victim of a war.
