TASK 13

Good morning! I just wanted to share with you another experiment we carried out at home with my daughter during lockdown.

IT is very easy….

INGREDIENTS: two glasses, vinegar and sodium bicarbonate.

INSTRUCTIONS: –

Pour vinegar in two different glasses (heat one of them )

Pour a coffee spoonful of sodium bicarbonate

YOU JUST CREATED A CHEMICAL REACTION (which means you no longer have the same substances, because matter has changed, a new gas has been released, creating carbon dyoxide (bubbles expanding)… the heat accelerates the process.

GOOD LUCK!

Hello Maite. I have seen this experiment many times as my mum pours vinegar and sodium bicarbonate in the pipelines to clean them every month. It avoids them to get clogged.

  4. JDH-6ºA: Hello, I have some doubts about the vinegar: At which temperature did you and your daughter heated the vinegar? Does it cause the same reaction with any type of vinegar?

    1. Hi there Judith, we put it in the microwave a little… it wasn’t that big an amount so yes… it almost boiled.. just make sure not to breathe too close because it will make you caught… see the vapour coming out of it??? We used what we had at home.. but just make sure it is vinegar not crema balsámica de vinagre…
