Good morning! My suggestion is the following. Do the exercise in your activity book answering each question with a beautiful complete sentence. Then in the comments write a paragraph about tornados with the information of the exercise. By the way this is activity book pg.112 ex 2.
Maite:- SO … What is it that you have to do? answer the questions in the blog?
Class:- NOOOOOOOOO! We answer the questions in the activity!
Maite:- SO…. What is it that you must write in the blog?
YOU:- A beautiful paragraph on tornados with the information from the excercise 2.

I think that they are crazy.

Hi Berta,
This is a good explanation. Remember, it’s not just when the air has a high temperature, it’s when there is very cold and very hot air together! Keep checking your spelling: ‘tordadoes’?
I like that you included your opinion at the end. Try to include more detail next time! Good job 🙂

Hi Nora,
Wow! This was exciting to read and I loved the way you described the tornados! Just remember the difference between ‘too’ and ‘so’. ‘Too’ means that it is possible for something to change into something smaller or slower.
Also, be careful with your spelling: ‘somethimes’
Apart from that I liked your similes and your explanations. Great work! 🙂

Please can you explain the first sentence, because I don’t think I understand it well. Can you check the difference between ‘from’ and ‘form’?
Be careful with spelling: ‘consecuences’ (this looks very Spanish!).

Tornadoes form on land. They are formed when air masses with a large temperature difference come together, cold air pushes hot air and begins to spin rapidly until reaching a speed of 800 km / h.
It can destroy everything in its path. uproot trees and knock down buildings.
There are people who get into a tornado for fun, although I think it is not fun, I think they must be crazy!

I think they must be crazy too! “It can destroy everything in its path. uproot trees and knock down buildings.” Did you mean to use a comma here instead of a full stop? If not, look at the structure and think of a better way to link the two clauses. “people who get into a tornado for fun” is probably better as “people who go into tornadoes for fun”, and I think you need a full stop after ‘fun’ to make “I think they must be crazy!” a separate sentence. Keep working hard!

I have one word for you: CAPITALIZATION. You’ve remembered to put a full stop at the end of every sentence, which is great, but you also have to remember to capitalize the first letter of the first word in a sentence. There are a few spelling mistakes as well, like ‘diference’ and ‘tornade’, but it’s the capitalization that needs the most attention.

Nice work! “too fast” is more of an opinion than stating a fact, so I would use ‘very’ here instead. Also, you need to link the second part of the sentence with ‘AND they can reach…’ You can also remove the ‘in’ in the last sentence and just write, “people enter a tornado just for fun…” Keep working hard.

They can move or travel across the land at 800 kilometers per hour! That’s to much for me. The consequences are that when a tornado touches the ground, it can destroy everything in its paths, for example, they can pull up trees and throw building up into the air. Some people go into with their cars only for fun. That’s very irresponsible.

I think it’s irresponsible too! Let’s look at a few things I found in your writing. I’ll put some corrections in parenthesis. “Tornadoes are form(ed) over land. They are form(ed) because,” Here, you have to use the past participle because you put ‘are’ in front of the verb. Without ‘are’, you could just say “Tornadoes form..” and “They form…”. Remember that for the future. Also, “to much” should “too much”, but maybe that’s a simple spelling mistake. Keep working hard!

You have covered all of the important information, but there are a few things we need to look at. Kilómetros is Spanish, so be careful not to use it when you’re writing in English. Also, there are some spelling mistakes, and that makes your writing look bad, even if you’re building good sentences. Ex: consemquence, dofference, clase. There are some word choice issues too, like “other land” instead of “over land”, and “drivers through” instead of “driving through”. I think proofreading will solve a lot of these problems, so take a little more time in the future. It’ll make your writing even better.

You have covered all of the information, which is good, but because of some spelling and sentence structure issues your writing is a little confusing. Ex: “They form when air mases with big temperature.” This is an incomplete sentence, so the reader doesn’t learn how tornadoes form. Masses is also misspelled, but that is a smaller problem. I think “they can spint tat moe than” is supposed to be “they can spin at more…”, but with spelling and spacing mistakes it’s a little hard to know. The last thing I will mention is that Australia should be capitalized as it’s a proper noun. Make sure you proofread next time to catch these mistakes.

Tornadoes formover land. They form when air masses with a big temperature different meet. Colder air pushes up the air very quickly and the tornadoes is formed. They can move at 800km per hour. They can destroy all things that are in it´s way. People go into tornadoes with their cars to have fun, it is very dangerous because you can die. In USA there are special spaces under the houses that people use when a tornadoe comes.
LikeLike
Those special spaces are called storm cellars, and they are really important in places where you have a lot of tornadoes. There are a few corrections to make. It’s temperature difference, not different, and ‘in it´s way’ should be in ‘its’ way. It’s = it is. Its = possessive. “People go into tornadoes with their cars to have fun, it is very dangerous because you can die.” This sentence has two independent clauses. You can better link them by adding ‘but’ after the comma. Keep at it.

JDH-6ºA: Tornadoes are known by their devastation power and are formed by two air masses with a big temperature difference that meet together over land. The reason why tornadoes are so destructive is because the cold air pushes the hot air and it ends up in a spinning form which starts to go quicker and quicker just like when you’re taking a bath and you take the lid out. As the tornadoe forms, it’s spinning movement atracts anything (like the mini tornado in the bath that attracts the water until it’s no more) and that causes objects to rise and to break down because of the spinning force. Amazingly, also because it’s spinning the eye of the tornado is very calm, but to reach the inside you have to cross the outside and the other way around: if you’re in the inside you have to travel through the tornado in order to reach the outside. There also has been an increasing in the number of tornadoes recently and many scientist think that global warming may cause this. Although these are reasons to avoid tornadoes some people search for them for fun, these people are called Tornado Chasers.

What a great explanation. I really liked the example of water spinning in the bathtub! There are a few little things we can do to make it even better. In “tornadoe forms, it’s spinning”, tornado is misspelled (simple mistake) and you use ‘it’s’ it is, instead of ‘its’ possessive. “There also has been an increasing in the number of tornadoes” – It should be ‘increase’ here instead of ‘increasing’. But like I said, these are small problems. You did really well on this assignment.

Hurricanes can definitely be massive. You don’t need the ‘s’ at the end of ocean – it’s simply ocean. “The wind speeds get stronger, hurricanes can bee at 600km wide.” This sentence has two clauses that aren’t really related. “The wind speed gets stronger” and “Hurricanes can be(e) at (?) 600km wide.” When building sentences, make sure the elements are either related, or that they have something that links them together. Keep working.

Tornadoes are formed over land when air masses with a big temperature difference meet, for example when warm air from the Gulf of Mexico meets cool and dry air from Canada. The effect is that the colder air pushes up the warm air very quickly and the air starts to spin and travel across the land at 800 kilometres per hour. When a tornado touches the ground, it destroys everything that gets in it’s way. The results can be devastating pulling up trees, throwing houses, cars and people up in to the air, like a huge vacuum cleaner. They are also very noisy, loud as a jumbo jet when they hit the ground. It looks like you put this through Google Translate. There are a couple of problems with that. The first is that it’s hardly ever right, and the second is that you don’t learn well using this method. Instead of translating your Spanish writing to English, write sentences directly in English to the best of your ability. It’s okay to do it this way and make mistakes, that’s why we’re all here.
